Video games are becoming more popular and more successful as movies, especially as they get better at telling stories. The Last of Us was a huge hit for HBO, winning many awards and becoming a potential blockbuster for HBO. But not all video game movies are good. Uncharted made a lot of money, but it only got 40% on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s disappointing for one of PlayStation’s biggest games, especially after it took 10 years to make the movie.
Still, Sony seems to want to continue the story with Tom Holland. We haven’t heard much about Uncharted 2 since the first movie came out in 2022, but it looks like it’s happening. Mark Wahlberg told The Direct that Uncharted 2 has a script, but they are still working on it and they have different ideas for the plot. Wahlberg also said he would have Sully’s famous mustache for the whole movie if it happens. He said he would only come back if they can make it better than the first.
“I’ve heard a lot of ideas,” Wahlberg said. “I know someone wrote a script, and they’re still working on it, and it would have me with the mustache the whole time. That makes sense; I had the mustache at the end of the first movie. I grew it for a long time because we tried to use a fake one, but it didn’t work. I felt silly. I respect actors who can wear wigs and makeup and stuff like that. I only used one fake thing once, but that was a long time ago. When I got the mustache, people liked it. It was a good way to end the movie. So if we can make it better than the first, I’m open to it, but I don’t know more than you right now.”
We don’t know when this will happen. Tom Holland is taking a break from acting for now and we don’t know when the next Spider-Man movie will be. Sony might want Spider-Man more than Uncharted 2, but we’ll have to wait and see. The first movie ended with a hint that they might use the story of the first Uncharted game in the next movie.
